Day 3 - May 7, 2018 Sydney, Australia

We didn't expect Sydney to be such an Asian city.  At times, we thought we're back in Hong Kong.  Hurstville where my sister lives resembles more like a mini-Hong Kong than Australia.  You can buy all kinds of Chinese and Asian foods within walking distance.   You can buy fresh egg tarts right out of oven or freshly deep fried Chinese donuts.  Even BBQ roasted piglets!  Tons of traditional Chinese herbalist stores.  I even saw many billboards with uni-lingual ads in Chinese!

Interestingly, no one can tell us exactly what's the Chinese or Asian population is in Sydney.  In fact, they don't know much about local statistics and facts at all, like the population in Sydney or how many suburbs there are.  I'm guessing the mix of white vs other visible minorities is about 40:60 from what I saw here.

We visited the famous Bondi Beach today.  There is a lovely scenic coastal walking trail connecting all the coves and beaches together.

After dinner with Mable and her husband Ray (they have been such a great help to my sister doing translation and driving her around to different appointments), we went to see the night scene at the harbour.  The famous Opera House wasn't illuminated as spectacularly as we had expected.

  2. Based on our limited experiences, not bad! But everything is expensive here. Can you believe that gingers cost over $50 kg here?!
