Day 2 - May 6, 2018 Sydney, Australia

The melatonin really works!  I had semi-decent naps through out the 14h flight and more incredible is Yi slept for 8h straight!!  Amazing!  We both felt refreshed at the end of the flight.  Going through custom was a breeze even though it was the single most stressful item in our entire itinerary.  We had dreaded about bringing several kg of ginseng at my sister's request through Australia's extremely straight bio-security quarantine.  Turned out he officer didn't even bling when we declared the ginseng.  Our luggage didn't even need to go through the x-ray machine!  What a relief!

We took the bus 400 to our hotel (or what I thought was our hotel).  When the receptionist asked for our confirmation number, I knew something was wrong. Turned out that we went to the wrong hotel with the same name!  What's the odd of two hotels having the same names two blocks apart?  Since our real hotel is spic and span new (just opened two weeks ago), Google map directed me to the wrong place.

We met up with my brother at the hotel.  They arrived several days before us.  Then we went to attend my sister's baptism.  What a blessing to witness this.  Even she has last stage breast cancer, we're so happy for her to have accepted Jesus and have the hope of everlasting life!

We had dim sum and dinner with my sister's family and also visited our nephew's place.  They have a really beautiful gum tree in front of their yard.  Don't ever complaint about how expensive housing is in Vancouver... Sydney is even worse!  Our nephew's place is reportedly worth over $2MM although it's a handy man special in a relatively small lot.

  3. Hi Kim. Yes - both the melatonin and the little stool had helped to make the long journey more tolerable. Thanks for the tips!

  4. Hi James. The real estate in Sydney is definitely as crazy, if not more, as in Vancouver. The rent is paid weekly rather than monthly, because of its high prices.
