Day 4 - Jun 4, 2018 Granada, Spain

We again returned to visit Granada today after 17 years.  During our last visit in 2001 when we traveled through Spain and Morocco with both boys, we couldn't get in Alhambra because the tour groups took all the tickets.  This time, with tickets pre-booked online, we're not going to be denied!  This, in fact, is the main destination which necessitates this loop around Southern Spain this trip.  We drove 3h passing through Malaga and the Costa del Sol, bypassing the main highway.  The sceneries are beautiful but the traffic is horrendous, doing roundabouts every few km along the way.  I don't see the attraction to vacation in this strip of coast as everywhere you see hotels, vacation villas, traffic jams, and no easy beach access.

Alhambra did not disappoint.  It exceeded our expectations in terms of the intricate patterns displayed inside the palace walls and ceilings.  The gardens were so pretty and loaded with all sorts of flowers.   In comparison, the palace built by King Charles looks ugly sitting side by side!

We didn't appreciate the check in process at all.  It was totally chaotic and disorganized.  People with 7p tickets were all in front of us and they didn't even make any effort to get us go past them resulting in us delayed by almost half an hour to enter the palace.  To add insult to injury, they started to kick people out right at 8p so our visit was rushed at the end.
